The short version

We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising. We do not track you across the internet.

Almost everything VidChart publishes is derived from publicly available information obtained through the official YouTube Data API v3 — the same information any member of the public can see by visiting a YouTube channel.

We do not scrape any platform. We do not purchase scraped data. We operate exclusively through officially sanctioned APIs.

1. Who we are

VidChart Technologies Private Limited ("VidChart", "we", "us") operates vidchart.in and vidchart.app. We are an independent creator-analytics service registered in India.

2. What data we process, and why

2.1 Publicly available creator data

We collect the following through the official YouTube Data API v3, under Google's granted quota and Terms of Service:

Channel names, handles, descriptions and public subscriber counts
Video titles, descriptions, view counts, like counts and comment counts
YouTube's own paid-promotion disclosure flag, which creators file themselves
Public comment text
Instagram handles where the creator has published them on their own YouTube channel

This is information the creator has chosen to make public. It is visible to anyone who visits their channel. We obtain it through Google's official interface, not by scraping.

2.2 Comment data — and how we protect it

We hash every commenter's identity before storage

We analyse public comment text to measure audience sentiment and engagement authenticity. We do not store the names, channel IDs, or any identifying information of the people who wrote them.

Every author identifier is passed through a one-way cryptographic hash at the moment of collection. The original identity is never written to our database and cannot be recovered from what we store.

We use this only to count distinct commenters — never to identify, profile, or contact any individual.

2.3 Data you give us directly

If you email us or request a report, we hold your name, email address, company name, and the content of your message — for the sole purpose of responding to you and delivering what you asked for.

2.4 What we do NOT collect

No advertising cookies. No third-party trackers. No pixel tags.
No cross-site tracking. We do not follow you anywhere.
No purchase of scraped data from any vendor, at any time.
No private account access. We never log into any platform to obtain data.
No sensitive personal data as defined under the DPDP Act — no financial, health, biometric, caste, religious or sexual-orientation data.

3. Legal basis for processing

Public creator metrics	Publicly available personal data — the creator has voluntarily made it public. Section 3(c)(ii) of the DPDP Act expressly excludes such data from the Act's application.
Comment text	Publicly available, and irreversibly de-identified through hashing at the point of collection. We hold no identifiable data about any commenter.
Your contact details	Consent. You gave them to us voluntarily by contacting us, for the specified purpose of a reply.

4. Your rights under the DPDP Act, 2023

If you are an individual whose personal data we hold, you have the following rights, and we will honour them:

Right to access — ask what data we hold about you
Right to correction — ask us to correct anything inaccurate
Right to erasure — ask us to delete your data
Right to grievance redressal — complain to us, and escalate to the Data Protection Board of India if unsatisfied
Right to nominate — nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf

5. Creators — how to be removed from our index

If you are a creator and you want out, you are out.

Email hello@vidchart.in from an address you can verify as yours. We will remove your channel from the public index within 7 working days. No conditions, no arguments, no retention offers.

We may retain aggregate, non-identifying statistics for research integrity — but your name, your channel and your scores come off the site.

We do not charge creators. We do not sell to creators. We do not take commission on any deal you sign. You owe us nothing.

6. Data retention

Public channel metrics: retained indefinitely as a historical record. This is the core of our service — a permanent, versioned index cannot be rebuilt if deleted.
Comment text: retained only for as long as needed to compute engagement metrics, then discarded. Author identities are never stored in the first place.
Your contact data: retained only while needed to respond to you, and deleted on request.

7. Who we share data with

We do not sell data to anyone. We do not share data with advertisers. We do not participate in any data marketplace.

We use the following infrastructure providers, who process data solely on our instructions:

Railway — application hosting
Neon — database hosting
Hostinger — website hosting
Google (YouTube Data API v3) — our source of public data

Reports commissioned by a paying client are delivered to that client alone, under confidentiality. They are never published, resold, or shared with any third party.

8. Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Administrative access requires key-based authentication. Commenter identities are hashed at the point of collection and cannot be reversed, so a breach could not expose them — because we never held them.

9. Children

VidChart is a business-to-business analytics service and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. Where a creator on our index is a minor, we process only the public channel metrics that are visible to any member of the public, and we will remove any channel on request.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

This policy is governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from it shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Pune, Maharashtra, India.

12. Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page with a revised date. Material changes will be announced on the site. We will not make a change that reduces your rights without telling you.
